Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are rarely described as painful and most patients find their acupuncture experience to be relaxing and not at all what they expected.  There are acupuncture/energy sensations that most patients experience during their treatment and are a good sign of healthy energy and blood flow.  Sensations often experienced include tingling, numbness, warmth, coolness, heaviness, floating, aching, throbbing among other healthy responses.

Do you reuse Acupuncture Needles?

No.  Acupuncture needles in the U.S. are sterile, disposable one time use only needles.

Do I have to believe in it for it to work?

No.  If you’ve made it into my office, there’s a greater part of you that is desiring to feel better than you are right now.

What if I don’t like needles?

I am experienced in multiple modalities of treatment. (which I include along with acupuncture). Acupuncture is just one of them. If you prefer not to get acupuncture, I will choose a different but still effective technique that doesn’t require needles.  However, 99% of patients I encounter who have needle “phobias” are blown away at how different acupuncture is from their feelings of needles or previous experiences with needles.  About 90% of my patients even fall asleep during their first visit realizing that their dislike of needles was attached to prior experiences and are able to relax and enjoy their acupuncture sessions and create new experiences.

When does my transformation begin?

Transformation begins the moment you make your first appointment.  Your intention and desire to allow new possibilities starts then.

How quickly can I expect to feel better?

Expect to feel better during your first visit.  My patients experience immediate emotional and mental relief during their first visit.  Most physical complaints are alleviated to a degree and sometimes completely gone.  I also provide my patients with food suggestions, herbal formulas, essential oils, ear seeds, and intuitive guidance which helps progress the healing process following your treatment.  Patients who follow through with making day to day changes improve at a much higher rate than those who choose not to.

How often should I be treated?

Every patient is different and therefore will require different frequencies of treatment based on their needs.  Every new patient that I see will have their first follow-up visit within 1-2 weeks of their first visit.  The first follow-up visit is more important than the first visit as it’s a valuable reflection of treatment and your desire to move through your discomfort(s).  Most acupuncturists see their patients weekly and sometimes multiple times a week.  I however, work from a different perspective and offer a multitude of healing modalities inside my treatments and guidance outside of treatments.  My main focus is to help you not only feel better, but empower you in your own life for your well-being.  Most of my patients have visits during the beginning of their care every 2 weeks for the first 2-3 months.  After their first 2-3 months, most patients settle into their desired frequency of treatments based on personal preference (i.e.: weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).

Is Herbal Medicine safe?

Chinese herbal formulas are specially formulated combinations of traditional herbs that are intended to compliment acupuncture treatments for most conditions. The herbs are sourced from certified facilities that follow strict quality control and check for pesticides, heavy metals, and bacteria.

How do I know who is a reputable, qualified Acupuncturist?

The licensure requirements in Florida are similar to most other states — which is a specialized training program of more than 2500 didactic and clinical hours (in the US, this is usually a graduate degree), and successful completion of the board exams created by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Many states (including Florida) require continuing education credits to maintain active licensure. Here in Florida, you can verify the license status of health profressionals through the state Board of Health.
